It should be easier for immigrants to become citizens in America because then they can become taxpayers and help in the economic balance of the country. The checks on people trying to enter the country should be made simpler yet still effective, criminal records and ties to any illegal activity should be checked for as well as any anti-American beliefs such as terrorist ties to any organizations. As for illegal immigrants, those that want to become citizens will have the ability to do so, those that do not will be sent back to their native country. Background checks on all immigrants will be done to ensure the safety of this country from any outer threat, as the Protectionist Party’s main concern for its country is the safety of the people from any threat whatsoever. Mental illness would be checked, as knowing of any mental disturbance or illness could lead the government to get help for them, whether it be by getting them professional assistance or to check if the mental illness could have been correlated with violent actions by use of weaponry. This would be a way to protect the people and the person without infringing on their rights, as the government is only trying to protect the people of the country, and sometimes, the person from themselves. Every immigrant from another country should be treated with the same respect as a naturally born citizen, they are entitled to the same rights that cannot be infringed upon. Criminals are not to be allowed into the country, as it would be best to leave any ties to crime or in some cases, terrorism, from spreading across country borders and taking hold in America as a domestic form. If at any time, a criminal from another country is able to slip through the cracks and take refuge in America, and is discovered to be a criminal, they will be sent to their country of origin for trial and any money they possessed will be taken by the government and used for issues such as education. This would also be used in the case that the criminal was not an actual citizen of the country, but instead illegally took refuge in America. Legal citizens from other countries are entitled to the same rights as those born in America, as when they become citizens, they are formally entitled to the same rights as those born in the country. They can then work for other people or begin their own businesses in the pursuit of happiness. Anyone who wants to become an american citizen can and will receive a green card, social security, and the rights of any other American citizen. Immigrants need to pay taxes just as every other American citizen. Any person seeking entrance as an american citizen can do so by use of background checks that are simple yet effective in separating those that wish to have a better life from those who only wish to bring crime, terrorism, or other threats to the people of America. Background checks will focus on any terrorist or criminal ties from the country of origin. If any criminal is able to become a citizen, as soon as the United States finds out, they will be sent back for jurisdiction in their home country. If the person is a terrorist, they will be dealt with in America, by use of the American justice system. Every immigrant citizen is subject to the same rights as naturally born citizens, including working and starting a business in the name of the American Dream.
